DNR-Managed Lands

Data Disclaimer: This data set ('DNR-Managed Lands') is a polygon shapefile representing the boundaries of lands managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources The Wisconsin DNR manages these lands through ownership, easement or lease rights. This data set is a spatial representation of the Oracle Land Records System maintained by the DNR, Bureau of Facilities and Lands (LF), and may include errors and/or omissions. The data should not be interpreted as a legal representation of legal ownership boundaries.

This data set does not differentiate between lands that are open or closed to the public for hunting and/or general public access. Some lands represented in this data set may not be open to the general public, or may have specific limitations or restrictions on public use. This data set is not intended for use as a land management tool; it is a listing of all DNR real estate transactions that have occurred on these lands over time.

Abstract: This polygon shapefile represents all WDNR lands which are managed through ownership, easement, or lease rights. The geographic framework for creating this coverage was the WDNR 24K Landnet. Each individual parcel in the layer references a property boundary and the designated management approach used for each property. Passive, hunting and fishing easements may also be represented.

Purpose Description: To geographically represent the boundaries of WiDNR lands, which are managed through ownership, easement or lease rights.

Use Constraints: Users should note that this data set does not differentiate between lands that are open or closed to the public for hunting and/or general public access. This data set is not intended for use as a land management tool, but rather as a listing of real estate transactions that have occurred on these lands over time.

Process Step Description: A download of selected records from the Bureau of Facilities and Land's Oracle "Land Records System" was generated and linked to the quarter-quarter feature level in the Landnet. These selected QQ's became the base layer from which the individual parcel boundaries were entered.
