The 2006 Citizen-Based Monitoring Conference was held in scenic Door County at the Wagon Trail Resort on the shores of Rowleys Bay. The conference focused on reviewing and initiating successful monitoring efforts for individual properties including state parks, forests, wildlife areas, lakes, rivers or private lands. The agenda was constructed to help both managers of these properties and citizen groups interested in participating in monitoring to develop monitoring programs to lead to more effective conservation efforts. What better place to hold this conference than Door County which contains a number of important Natural Areas and Parks including the Ridges Sanctuary and Newport State Park which are both located just down the road from the Wagon Trail Resort.
