On the sandbar at the mouth of the Eau Claire River where it enters Lower Eau Claire Lake. The dragonfly was captured by hand by my 5 year old granddaughter. The river at this point is somewhat fast, with a sand and gravel substrate, with a maximum depth of about 2 feet. The aquatic habitat matches that described by Kurt Mead for this species in Dragonflies of the Northwoods
