July 19, 2023 — Waukesha County

Oconomowoc River, between County Line Road and Loew Lake.

Common Green Darner (Anax junius)
Observed
A few tandem pairs and singles. Not as many as I'd expect to see at this time.
Unicorn Clubtail (Arigomphus villosipes)
Photographed
There were several -up to 10- in the lily pads and algae mat just upstream from the put in. I've never seen as many or seen them this close to the road. They were strangely absent from the part of the river where I've encountered them before. Photos are not very clear as they were very skittish.
