Root River and multiple ponds at this location accessed from County Line Rd. Just east of railroad tracks. Northern edge of Racine County.

Fawn Darner (Boyeria vinosa)
Netted and released
This was my fourth attempt to photograph this species along the Root River in Racine Co. I have spotted Fawn Darners as early as 11:00am and most often around 12-1pm, but with long intervals with no sightings. I found this one to be more active around 2:00pm. I find them around the same location on the river where there is a natural dam created by fallen trees and a build-up of branches from spring flooding.
