Rock River Lagoon. Diversion of the Rock River that forms an elongate, shallow lagoon in Riverside Park, Beloit. The lagoon is about 110 m wide (E-W) and 225 m long (N-S), has some grasses growing around the edge, and is aerated with a fountain. Located on the west of Riverside Drive, about 0.5 km north of the intersection with White Avenue.

Red Saddlebags (Tramea onusta)

Lousy photos, but I think they are recognizable. Saw several, commonly flying with the black saddlebags. Tended to fly over land more than the black saddlebags. One photo shows the clear patch on the inner edge of hindwing; also shows that red patch does not extend to fore edge of hindwing. Noticed these on 2 July also, but could not photograph. (2 photos)
