Van Loon Wildlife Area - Seven Bridges Trail.
Common Green Darner (Anax junius)
A few pairs and patrolling males
Netted and released
1-2 ovipositing females and a few patrolling males at pond under bridge 2
several males and 1 teneral female. Males were flying over creek that flows under bridge 1 and perching on small sandbar on shore.
Midland Clubtail (Gomphurus fraternus)
1 male along creek under bridge 1
Swift River Cruiser (Illinois River Cruiser ssp.) (Macromia illinoiensis illinoiensis)
A few males flying up and down the creek under bridge 1.
Prince Baskettail (Epitheca princeps)
a few patrolling over various ponds and the stream under bridge 1
Black Saddlebags (Tramea lacerata)
1 flying over County XX near base of trail
Common Whitetail (Plathemis lydia)
many along trail
Dot-tailed Whiteface (Leucorrhinia intacta)
several along trail and near various waterways
Twelve-spotted Skimmer (Libellula pulchella)
several along trail and over ponds
Widow Skimmer (Libellula luctuosa)
many along trail and near ponds
Ebony Jewelwing (Calopteryx maculata)
a few along creek that flows under bridge 1
Blue-tipped Dancer (Argia tibialis)
A few mature adults on bank of stream. Many immatures perched along trail.
Eastern Forktail (Ischnura verticalis)
Skimming Bluet (Enallagma geminatum)
