Spillway dike off of Fishermen's Road on the east side of the La Crosse Airport.

Common Green Darner (Anax junius)
Observed
10-15 males and females including pairs in tandem. I also flushed what I am 99% sure was a Fawn Darner from the vegetation on the dike. If flew straight into the woods on a low flight just above the top of the grass. It was a dark darner with no blue markings on the abdomen and slightly amber wings.
Black Saddlebags (Tramea lacerata)
Photographed
2-3 males (1 photo)
Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis)
Observed
15-20 males
Eastern Pondhawk (Erythemis simplicicollis)
Observed
males and females along shore and in vegetation on the dike.
Halloween Pennant (Celithemis eponina)
Observed
1 or 2
Red Saddlebags (Tramea onusta)
Photographed
2 males both showing wear. One was VERY tattered with many chunks out of its wings and at least one leg segment missing. (3 photos)
Twelve-spotted Skimmer (Libellula pulchella)
Observed
1
Variegated Meadowhawk (Sympetrum corruptum)
Netted and released
1 male that was relatively worn and very dark. Light spots on side of abdomen were almost nonexistent. Spots on thorax still present but not as obvious. Certainly not as pretty as the ones I found in early May. (1 photo)
Wandering Glider (Pantala flavescens)
Observed
1
Eastern Forktail (Ischnura verticalis)
Observed

Tule Bluet (Enallagma carunculatum)
Netted and released
10-20 males and females including a few pairs in tandem
Eastern Amberwing (Perithemis tenera)
Observed
dozens of males over lily pads above the dike. More males and females in vegetation on the dike.
