May 22, 2024 — Racine County

Root River and multiple ponds at this location accessed from County Line Rd. Just east of railroad tracks. Northern edge of Racine County.

Common Green Darner (Anax junius)
Observed
Two
Swamp Darner (Epiaeschna heros)
Photographed
Unlike last year, this spring is similar to 2022 when I found much more diversity along the Root River. Like 2022, much of the area is saturated with many ephemeral ponds. I found a couple in 2022, nothing in 2023. This was the most cooperative Swamp Darner I've had.
