Kiep's Island Dike Trail. Trail starts at the parking lot of the Boat Landing in the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge. 1+ mile with ponds, forest with 2/3 of the trail extending into the Mississippi River Pool.

3-5 unable to photograph but pretty confident given size and markings.
Painted Skimmer (Libellula semifasciata)

1 seen. I know this is quite rare and may not have been reported in this county before. It was flying over the dike amongst the Saddlebags and CDGs. About the same size as the Saddlebags. Had the eight spots-two per wing that were orangish-brown. Wings were amber. Unable to get a photograph.
