UW Arboretum Odonata Monitoring - GARDNER AREA. UW Arboretum East Entrance & Gardner Marsh. Includes channelized Wingra Creek either direction from the Arboretum Drive bridge over the creek and the Gardner Marsh trails/boardwalks (approximately 250 yards upstream to the dam, approximately 100 yards downstream). GARDNER MARSH 1047-1130am 78-80F, calm-light breeze, sunny No damselflies here. WINGRA CREEK 1131am-1252pm 80-83F, light breeze, sunny Very few damselflies in great contrast to my visits on 9 and 22 June when there were many. About 6 unidentified damselflies at Gardner Marsh.

Gardner Marsh: 6 males a couple perched on dead branches, rest over water lilies, some battling. Many Anisoptera over water lilies too distant to ID that I suspect are this species. Wingra Creek: estimated 90 males on/over water lilies (a couple perched on bank vegetation) - no females observed

Wingra Creek: 2 males, 1 female (egg spout visible in photo). A female (maybe the same as in photo) was observed making a brief oviposition effort (dipped abdomen into water once only, then flew off).
