Common Green Darner (Anax junius)
Netted and released
It was a day with high dragonfly flight activity. Abundant sunshine with a south wind at 10-15 mph, and temperature in the high 70's. Observed a mixed swarm of actively feeding Common Green Darners and Black Saddlebags. There were many, many more Common Green Darners than Black Saddlebags. I would estimate at least 100 Common Green Darners. Netted, photographed and released two Common Green Dsrners. Observed the swarm for over an hour. What a spectacle!
