Traveled the full length of the lake while doing an Aquatic Invasive Species Early Detection Survey. Water quality is quite good here as indicated by the large number of bryozoans throughout the lake. They were even growing on stems of Eurasian watermilfoil which is abundant, unfortunately. We also found zebra mussels, but only at the outlet of the lake to the Wisconsin River. Saw many damsels we couldn't ID on the spot or get photos of. Could be a fun location for someone with better skills than mine, and I'd be happy to tag along!

Not 100% sure on this. Photo is not good quality-camera phone and bright light. (1 photo)
Variable Dancer (Violet Dancer ssp.) (Argia fumipennis violacea)
Photographed
We were able to look closely at these. Katrina, my work partner collected them, but she put ethanol on a scrap of paper with them and the colors changed somewhat. The photo doesn't show the blue on the male's segments 9 and 10, but I wrote that observation in my field notes during the observation. I think it's a problem of being a camera phone and bright light. (2 photos)
