Pier at Butternut Lake USFS boat landing. This landing is reached by taking Forest Service Road 2176 south off of U.S. Highway 70, and then turning right on Forest Service Rd. 2140 until it dead-ends at the boat landing. This species was perching on the pier and on the gravel-sand road in the vicinity.
Splendid Clubtail (Gomphurus lineatifrons)

There were numerous individuals. It had the size and the markings of the male Splendid Clubtail. However, the small triangular yellow spot on the dorsal surface of abdominal segment #8 is troublesome. (1 photo)
