It is a typical public park with playground equipment and large mowed playing fields, less than half a mile west of Lake Mendota. There is a large pond in the middle of the park.

I have not been reporting baskettails that I see each outing because only twice were my photos clear enough to identify. In both of those cases, they were common baskettails. I don't have a photo of this one so delete the record if you don't like my hunch that all of my locals are commons.

Incredibly, I estimate there were 50 slender bluets along the edge of the pond. I check this pond every couple of days, so they apparently just emerged. In previous years, skimming bluets are common at this pond - very few this year - replaced by slenders?
