Distinguishing Characteristics:
Lilypad clubtails average about 2.0 inches long. The males are dark green with black shoulder and thoracic stripes. The abdomen of males is mostly black with a small flare at end of abdomen. The females are yellowish with black markings. The eyes are blue-green. The legs are black.
Description of Habitat/Range:
Ranging throughout northeast United States, this species can be found at ponds, lakes, and slow streams with floating vegetation, often with submergent vegetation and low brushy shores, including bog lakes. Uncommon, it is widely distributed throughout Wisconsin.
Flight Season:
Mid-May to mid-August throughout their range. In Wisconsin, they have been documented from late May to early July.
