Distinguishing Characteristics:
This stocky green-black clubtail is similar to the mustached clubtail, but with reduced black lines on the face. The length of the body averages about 1.8 inches. Clubtail species are very similar to each other in some aspects, careful inspection is needed to identify them.
Description of Habitat/Range:
It is usually found on rapid streams and rivers with a mixture of gravel, sand, and silt with rocks. It is uncommonly found throughout northeastern United States, including the Appalachian Mountains. Uncommon in Wisconsin, It is known from northern part of the state.
Flight Season:
Late May to mid-July in Wisconsin.
