Invasive Species in Your Forest Workshop

9-4pm. Techniques for identification, management, and citizen science will be provided in this outdoor workshop. K12 educators who utilize outdoor classrooms, such as school forests are especially encouraged to attend. Registration required; $50.

Mussel Workshop
29 Jul 2021
Organization: Upper Sugar River Watershed Association
Location: Paoli
5-7pm. Attendees will learn about the ecology of mussels, identification of different mussel species, and field exercises to help survey mussels in their natural habitat. Surveys of mussels relocated in 2017 will be conducted. Registration required.

9am-12pm. learn about the ecology of mussels, how to identify different mussel species, and participate in field exercises to help survey mussels in their natural habitat.

Citizen Lake Monitoring Network, 15 Mar 2021 - 15 Nov 2021

Monitor your lake's water clarity, water chemistry, ice on and ice off, and species composition.

Wisconsin Bumble Bee Brigade, 1 Apr 2021 - 31 Oct 2021

Monitor and photograph native bumble bees to inform conservation and management efforts.

Wisconsin Odonata Survey, 1 Apr 2021 - 31 Oct 2021

Report observations of dragonflies and damselflies. Photographs of observations are recommended.

Water Action Volunteers - Stream Monitoring, 1 Apr 2021 - 31 Oct 2021

Monitor dissolved oxygen, temperature, transparency, stream flow, habitat, and macroinvertebrates. You'll get help setting up local stream monitoring programs, training to learn methods for monitoring, written methods, data sheets, and more.

Wisconsin Turtle Conservation Program, 1 Apr 2021 - 30 Sep 2021

Report all turtle sightings, including road mortalities to the WTCP. Data are used to document distribution and abundance or turtles and to identify hazardous road crossings.

Wisconsin Frog and Toad Survey, 1 Apr 2021 - 31 Jul 2021
Organization: Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
Location: statewide
Conduct calling surveys of frogs and toads along set driving routes or monitor the phenology of calls at a single location.

Wisconsin Rare Plant Monitoring Program, 15 Apr 2021 - 31 Oct 2021

Verify historical locations of rare plants and monitor their status. All participants must complete the program's trainings (offered each spring) prior to volunteering.

Monarch Larva Monitoring Project, 15 Apr 2021 - 30 Sep 2021

Location: statewide
Help document the distribution and abundance of breeding monarchs. Find a patch of milkweed and monitor it weekly for monarch eggs, larvae, and pupae.

Integrated Monarch Monitoring Program, 1 May 2021 - 30 Sep 2021

This national monitoring project relies on volunteers to monitor monarchs, milkweed, and nectar plants at priority sites.

Wisconsin Bird Monitoring- Nightjars, 19 May 2021 - 1 Jul 2021

Location: statewide
Listen and record observations of bird calls along set roadside route. Volunteers conduct one survey per route per year. Registration required.

Odonate Surveys, 30 Jun 2021 - 30 Sep 2021
Organization: Urban Ecology Center
Location: Milwaukee
1:30-3:30, various weekdays and locations. Dragonflies and Damselflies are excellent indicators of environmental health. Join us as we identify species within Urban Ecology Center green spaces. Register in advance for each survey.

Early Morning Bird Walks, 1 Jul 2021 - 31 Dec 2021

8-10am. Tues, Wed, Thurs. Various locations. Kick-start your day with fresh air and bird song. Interested bird watchers of all ability levels are invited. Registration required.

Monarch Larva Monitoring with Urban Ecology Center, 1 Jul 2021 - 31 Aug 2021
